For teams participating in our Spokane cornhole leagues, we will use a combination of SPR, PPR, and recent history to place you in one of the following divisions: Recreational, Intermediate, Competitive, or Advanced. Each team, whether in singles or doubles, is allowed 3 timeouts during the game. Games are played to the first team scoring 21 points, with a maximum score of 25 during rounders. Players will alternate shots until each has thrown all 4 of their bags. It is crucial that both feet remain behind the line (front of the board) when releasing a bag. One foot must stay in contact with the ground, no more than 3 feet from the board being thrown from, and players must not cross the line at the front of the board until the bag is released. If a bag is accidentally dropped by a player before their final forward swing begins, this shall not be considered a foul, and the bag may be picked up and thrown. After all bags have stopped moving, a full 3 seconds must elapse before any bags are touched or picked up. A bag should not be thrown while a previously thrown bag is still in motion on the board. If a thrown bag on the board is touched or moved before the turn is over, it results in a foul, and the offending team (who touched the bags) forfeits all remaining bags and scores only the points for the bags thrown prior to the foul. The non-offending team scores twelve (12) game points as if they had thrown four bags in the hole during their turn. All fouls (other than moving or touching a thrown bag on the board) result in the bag thrown becoming dead, and such a bag should be removed from the board if it lands on it. If your team is unable to attend for a week or joins the Spokane cornhole league a week late, the team will post a record of 0-6, with all games recorded as 21-15 losses.
* If one team member cannot participate in the cornhole leagues for a week, you may find a substitute for them.
For someone to sub, that player’s 120 day PPR must be the same or lower than the player who needs the sub. If they don’t have a 120 day PPR, then all-time PPR will be used. Please message us with a screenshot of your sub’s profile showing their PPR, or provide us with their name and we’ll verify.
* If you cannot find a sub, then depending on your division, follow the cornhole rules outlined below for scoring:
Recreational and Intermediate Divisions: Take the missing player's PPR, round it to the nearest whole number, and use that score for each round.
§ Example: If the missing player's PPR is 5.4, they would enter a 5 each round.
Competitive and Advanced Divisions: Take the missing player's PPR, subtract 1, round to the nearest whole number, and use that score for each round.
§ Example: If the missing player's PPR is 7.4, they would enter a 6 each round.
* If the team cannot participate in a week, they will receive a zero (0) for that week.
* If snow creates undrivable conditions, we will reach out to everyone via email or text to determine if postponement or rescheduling is the best option for our Spokane cornhole community.
Be mindful of players in cornhole leagues whose turn it is to throw. Do not talk to, touch, or otherwise distract a player preparing to throw with a bag in hand while standing in the box. Even if you are not actively participating in a game, be aware of a throwing player's line of sight and never intentionally try to distract or interrupt their concentration. While we are not currently enforcing the 20-second time limit each player has to throw after their opponent has thrown, please keep in mind that this is the goal and strive to maintain the expected pace and courtesy in accordance with cornhole rules. Do not leave the building once games have started and either have your court notifications turned on or keep an eye on the monitor for when you come up to play in Spokane cornhole events. Verbalize and agree upon the scoring at the end of each round PRIOR to picking up bags. If a disagreement arises that is not resolved by the players within a few minutes, an event coordinator should be notified immediately. DO NOT attempt to resolve impassable issues on your own. Aggressive behavior, both physical and verbal, will not be tolerated in Spokane cornhole. Warnings, suspensions, and banning of players may occur based on Spokane Cornhole’s assessment of the incident.
